ECOLOGICAL HORTICULTURE LAB

Within the past twenty years there has been a growing interest in native plants among land stewards (both public and private), nursery growers, and consumers.  Many desirable and ecologically important species, however, are difficult to propagate by seed and/or vegetative cuttings.  One of the goals of our lab is to enhance the propagation of taxa that have unique and complex germination requirements.  This is done by combining classical horticulture techniques with an understanding of the ecological characteristics of species of interest.
