ECOLOGICAL HORTICULTURE LAB

Developing a solid understanding of the genetic diversity of native species is beneficial and critical in developing restoration plans, conservation programs, and propagation protocols.  Population genetics may also provide a clearer picture of the origins and pathways of invasive species and the locations of their greatest sources of genetic diversity.  Our lab uses PCR-based molecular marker techniques, such as the AFLP method, in population genetics studies of both groups of plants.
